12 th Annual Sports Day 2018-19
The much awaited Dr GSK Khel Utsav 12th Annual Sports Day was held on Saturday 23rd February 2019, with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere. The school playground rimmed with flags and balloons reverberating with the sound of cheers made everyones day. To enliven the sports event, the Olympic torch was lit by the National, State and District players of Sports Academy and Mr. Annavi, an Interntional athlete & Indian Railways coach, Honorary Secretary/ Coordinator, SSPF State Athletics Council the Chief Guest presided over the oath taking ceremony and declared the sports meet open.
The chief guest and Principal took the salute of the impressive March Past of the students, coupled with some stirring marching music by the band. Four themes by four houses representing four directions added more colours to Khel Utsav. This was entailed by the races wherein the participants participated with full verve and vigour. It was a delight to see the excitement with which the students challenged themselves to attempt a variety of sprints and relays where competitiveness among the students soared through the roof.
Once the races began, the air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes. The audience next witnessed various displays symbolizing alternative sources of energy. Umbrella Drill, Coconut shell drill, Bamboo magic, Yoga, Kalaripayattu and Dhandiya mesmerized the audience.
It was a day filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish. The zealous parents, gathered in large numbers, constantly applauded the enthusiastic young sports stars. The overall champion trophy was awarded to the Canopus house and runner up to Sirius house.
