Pongal Celebration at Dr. G. S. K.
Pongal, a popular thanksgiving festival invoking the blessings of the Sun God, was celebrated at our school here on 12.01.2021. The significance of the age-long tradition of the Tamils was brought to the fore by a bunch of young Dr. GSKians who participated in a range of programmes, viz. inspiring speeches by Lakshanya N., Malarvizhi V, Akila Meenakshi M, Kaviya Sree, explaining the manner in which the festival is celebrated across the state, followed by a debate on the trustworthiness of friendship and relatives, chaired by a Tamil scholar Prof. Somasundaram, in which students of grade VIII and IX participated, a heart-throbbing folk song and a dance performance, marking the occasion.
The Pongal celebrations could not have been timed better, as the audience comprising parents and other invitees also witnessed Miss. Eiman of XI E and Miss. Rithika of IX A speak on Swami Vivekananda, in an attempt to bring alive the celebration of New India, on the occasion of National Youth Day, the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, whose foray overseas helped revive India's image as a land of spirituality.
We must be Grateful to our Beloved Chairman Sir who is our inspiration and has always been our tremendous support in all endeavours. The programmes organised under the aegis of Principal, Deans and Teachers along with the cooperation of Parents and Students made this event, a joyous one.
