The 78th Independence Day of our nation was celebrated with great enthusiasm
and patriotic spirit at Dr. GSK Memorial School on August 15, 2024. Students,
parents, and faculty members eagerly attended this historic occasion.
The Chief Guest, Subedar Major Guruswamy, 8 (TN) BN NCC, Kumbakonam, was
warmly welcomed with a grand orchestral band performance. The Chief guest
was introduced with a fitting testimonial and honoured by the Vice-principals of
our school.
The program commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by the Chief Guest,
symbolizing the pride and unity of the nation. The unfurling of the tricolour was
followed by a solemn march past and a parade featuring the school Council
members, NCC cadets, and Scouts & Guides, who demonstrated discipline and
patriotism.
The cultural segment of the event began with an invocation dance, setting a
patriotic tone for the day. Then, the school choir sang a patriotic song, and the
girls in Grades VI, VII, and VIII performed a lively group dance afterwards.
Additionally, students delivered thought-provoking speeches in both Tamil and
English, emphasizing the significance of Independence Day.
In his keynote address, Subedar Major Guruswamy delivered a stirring patriotic
speech, paying homage to the brave freedom fighters who laid down their lives
for our nation's independence. He encouraged the students to take pride in
India's rich heritage and to actively contribute to building a safe and prosperous
future for the country. His words resonated deeply with the audience, inspiring a
renewed national pride.
The program coordinators and participants were commended for their excellent
organization and participation, ensuring the smooth execution of the event.
Ultimately, the program permeated unity, patriotism, and appreciation for our
country's hard-won freedom.
